Loop Hero: Tips and Tricks

Loop hero: Tips and Tricks ;Loop Hero is a simple yet addictive roguelike with mechanics that might be hard to get into at first, here's a beginner's guide.

Gamers are quickly glowing with Loop Hero, one of the newest fantasy games on Steam. With unique innovations to the roguelike and autobattler genres, Loop Hero turns simple mechanics and graphics into an addictive, good loop.

While Loop Hero's core mechanics are simple to implement, it's a bit broad for new players. The tutorial doesn't explain everything to players, and the game's meta is usually only understood after a lot of trial and error. With that in mind, here's a guide for players new to Loop Hero with tips and tricks to help make the loop a little smoother.

Getting Started Basics

Before we go over the finer points, here are the basics Loop Hero explains. The player controls a hero (Fighter, Rogue, or Necromancer) who travels along a path that starts and ends with his camp. Along the way, they will automatically encounter monsters they fight. Winning earns equipment and cards. Cards change the landscape to heal the player and cycle for better rewards.

Some basic gameplay options include right-clicking the game to pause and continue in the same way. This allows equipment to be changed and cards to be used. In the options menu, the game can also be set to automatically pause at certain points for ease of use.

Tile Combinations

Tiles do a number of things, including spawning new enemies as well as increasing stats and HP. Some of these combinations are particularly useful, such as creating a Mountain Peak. This is done by building a 3x3 grid of mountains or rocks, greatly increasing the player HP and also spawning Harpies as enemies.

However, not all flooring combinations are so obvious. For example, creating a swamp near a vampire mansion is not an official combo, but it will stop the healing of vampire enemies in the swamp floor. Similarly, some tiles like Goblin Camps (created by placing 10 rocks/mountains on the map) are simply terrible. It's a good idea to save Oblivion cards for tiles like this, which can clear map features.

Important Statistics

Out of all the stats the player can have, Defense is one of the most important besides HP. While Evasion works by a certain percentage, Defense removes a flat amount of damage from attacks, which is really a lot. This isn't equally important for all Loop Hero classes, but it's never helpful. It's also a good idea to invest in Magic damage whenever possible, as it ignores defense.
