A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when growing crops in Stardew Valley is that the fruit grows all season. Berries, especially blueberries and cranberries, often produce more than one fruit per plant, so it's a great value for money. Each of them also grows again after a few days, which can provide a stable and high income if players use as much land as possible to plant strawberries. In winter, using the greenhouse to grow strawberries is a tactic many experienced players use to maximize profits, especially by pairing them with a strong fertilizer.

In terms of berries, the same rule applies to the fall season in Stardew Valley. Cranberries should be planted in the fall and take a total of 7 days to grow, but each plant is guaranteed to produce 2 fruits per harvest with a chance to attract more berries. Cranberry plants re-grow after just 5 days, this is a great recycle and allows players not to have to re-buy seeds every time the crop is fully grown. Regular cranberries sell for 75 gold each, but iridium-quality cranberries sell for 150 gold, so be sure to put in some fertilizer to increase profits from this Stardew Valley crop.

The second best crop grown in the fall season is pumpkin. Pumpkins are extremely profitable, selling 320 gold each in normal quality and 640 gold in iridium quality, but they take quite a while to grow. Pumpkins take 13 days to mature, meaning players can only sell 2 rounds of pumpkins during the fall season. Yet they are also very valuable in other ways. Although not edible, Pumpkins are used in a number of recipes and packages at the Community Center. Additionally, the pumpkin is loved by Abigail, Krobus, and Willy.

Pumpkins also have a chance to become a giant crop in Stardew Valley. By planting pumpkins (plus melons and cauliflower in their respective seasons) on 3×3 grids, the chances of a giant crop every day are small every day. Giant crops can be harvested with an ax and yields about 15 to 21 units.

Additionally, the sweet walnut fruit grows in the fall and is technically the most profitable crop in Stardew Valley. It grows from rare seeds purchased from the Travel Trolley, but typically only one seed is taken at a time and the sweet walnut fruits take a full 24 days to grow. It still sells a minimum of 3.000 gold and a maximum of 6.000 gold.
