To get started you will need to choose the point where you want your nest to go. A suggested location is not too far from your base, but far enough for you to have some space between your actual home and the water.
Next, you'll need to decide whether you want to build just the wharf platform or build a boathouse where the docks come out. Both options are viable as both accomplish the same goal, but frankly, a boathouse looks nicer.
If you decide to build a boathouse, it should be about 5-10 Wooden Ladders length from the water to provide enough space for the pier and boat. The house can be a smaller version of your real home. However, since this is your base, you can build it however you want.
For real docks themselves, it's normal Wood with Core Wood is preferred. Core Wood is used for support beams under docks as it is stronger than standard Wood. To begin, attach Core Wood support beams to the shoreline. This creates a foundation for your scaffolding. Then, on top of the support beams, some Wooden floor place the panels.
Remember, you don't want your pier to extend too far into the water. This requires more support and if the water is deep you will have a hard time attaching support beams to your dock. You only need a small amount of Wood Floor panels on your dock.
