As the name suggests, bone fragments are bone fragments found around the Valheim map. They can only be found in two main places: tombs and as drops from Skeletons. Skeletons are found in both the Swamp and Black Forest biome, but early game players may be wary of taking on them as they can be tough enemies to defeat. But there are better ways to get these parts.
What Are Bone Pieces Used For?
Bone fragments are used to craft and upgrade several weapons and armor pieces. Bone fragments are needed for:
- Making a deerskin cloak
- Making a troll post cloak
- Making a troll leather helmet
- Upgrade leather pants
- Upgrade a Leather Tunic
- Upgrading a Stagbreaker
- Upgrade all parts of the Troll Armor Set in Valheim
Finding Bone Pieces in the Grasslands
A safer place to look for bone fragments is the burial grounds in the Valheim's Meadows starting area. After defeating Eikthyr, players will be able to use horn pickaxes not only to mine ore, but also to dig the ground. This will allow players to dig up the Meadows cemeteries in search of human bones.
The burial grounds are boat-shaped burial sites in the Meadows, indicated by large rocks in the shape of a ship-shaped oval. They look like this:

Bone Pieces in the Black Forest
Once players are better equipped and ready to take on the Black Forest, there are many more places full of bones for players to pick up. From the outside they look like this:
